We’re experiencing an issue bootstrapping a Pythnet RPC validator node. After a brief network outage, all discovered RPC nodes are reporting “No snapshots available”, preventing our validator from bootstrapping.
Current State:
-
Validator version: v1.14.180
-
Shred version: 35891 (matching network)
-
RPC nodes discovered: 14-16 nodes
-
Issue: All nodes report:
No snapshots available -
Gossip connectivity: Healthy (85-91 nodes visible)
-
System resources: Adequate (1.8TB disk free, 55GB RAM available)
Validator logs show:
[INFO] Searching for an RPC service with shred version 35891 (Retrying: No snapshots available)...
[INFO] Total 14 RPC nodes found. 0 known, 0 blacklisted
Our Setup:
We’re using Pythnet RPC nodes as bootstrap sources for a Hermes relay infrastructure. The validator is correctly configured with --full-rpc-api and pointing to the correct entrypoint, but cannot proceed past bootstrap discovery.
Questions:
-
Is the snapshot service on Pythnet RPC nodes currently down for maintenance?
-
What’s the expected timeline for snapshot availability?
-
Are there alternative sources or methods to obtain a valid Pythnet snapshot?
