This Privacy Policy explains how Pyth Scan (“Pyth Scan,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) processes information when you interact with the Pyth Scan Discord bot and related services.
Pyth Scan is a Pyth ecosystem intelligence assistant that allows users to ask questions about Pyth prices, feeds, governance, products, technical concepts, and other publicly available Pyth information. Pyth Scan also provides Discord tools such as alerts, watchlists, market movers, updates, briefs, and server configuration.
1. Information We Process
When you interact with Pyth Scan, we may process:
- message content intentionally sent to or handled by Pyth Scan in authorized Discord channels or direct interactions;
- Discord guild, channel, and message identifiers necessary to process requests and enforce server configuration;
- hashed or anonymized representations of user identifiers for reliability, abuse prevention, and diagnostic purposes;
- timestamps and technical request information;
- command usage, routing information, response status, latency, and similar operational information;
- alert, watchlist, and server configuration settings intentionally created by users or server administrators.
Pyth Scan does not require privileged Presence or Server Members intents for normal operation.
2. Message Content
Pyth Scan uses Discord Message Content access to provide conversational functionality.
Server administrators control where Pyth Scan may respond using /setup. Administrators can select permitted reply channels, determine whether users must mention Pyth Scan, and control whether thread conversations are enabled.
Messages from channels where Pyth Scan is not authorized to operate are rejected before entering Pyth Scan's conversational processing pipeline. The content of those unauthorized messages is not retained in Pyth Scan's interaction audit.
For authorized interactions, message content may be processed to understand the question, maintain short conversational context, retrieve relevant Pyth information, and generate a response.
3. AI Processing
Some requests can be answered directly using structured Pyth data without an AI model.
For requests requiring interpretation, routing, explanation, or synthesis, relevant portions of the user's request and supporting Pyth information may be processed using third-party AI infrastructure used by Pyth Scan, including models accessed through OpenRouter.
Pyth Scan does not use Discord message content to train its own machine-learning or AI models.
4. How We Use Information
We process information to:
- answer questions and provide Pyth Scan functionality;
- maintain short conversational context;
- provide alerts, watchlists, and requested features;
- enforce server/channel configuration;
- improve reliability and diagnose failed or inaccurate interactions;
- protect the service from abuse;
- measure service performance and maintain the bot.
We do not use Discord message content for targeted advertising or user profiling.
5. Data Retention
Authorized interaction audit records may be retained for up to 14 days for reliability, safety, and product-diagnostic purposes.
Stored interaction content is bounded in length, and user identifiers used for interaction auditing are hashed or anonymized.
Short-term conversational memory is maintained temporarily in process and is limited to a small number of recent conversation turns. It is not intended to serve as permanent message history.
Information intentionally created by users, such as alerts, watchlists, or server configuration, may be retained for as long as necessary to provide those features or until it is removed or no longer required.
6. Server Administrator Controls
Discord server administrators can use /setup to control how Pyth Scan operates, including:
- selecting channels where conversational responses are permitted;
- requiring users to mention Pyth Scan before it responds;
- enabling or disabling thread replies;
- disabling conversational replies.
Discord's own permissions and application-command controls also apply.
7. Third-Party Services
Pyth Scan relies on third-party services where necessary to operate, including:
- Discord;
- OpenRouter and supported AI model providers for certain AI-assisted processing;
- Pyth and official public Pyth data sources.
These services may process information according to their own terms and privacy policies.
8. Public Pyth Information
Pyth Scan retrieves and processes publicly available information from official Pyth sources to answer questions and keep its knowledge current.
This may include public documentation, product information, governance information, forum content, blog posts, GitHub resources, catalogue information, and other official Pyth materials.
9. Data Sharing
We do not sell personal information or Discord conversation data.
Information may be shared with service providers only where reasonably necessary to operate Pyth Scan, process a request, maintain the service, or comply with applicable legal obligations.
10. Security and Data Minimization
Pyth Scan is designed to limit processing to information necessary to provide its functionality.
Controls include:
- server administrators determine where conversational interactions are enabled;
- unauthorized-channel message bodies are not retained in interaction auditing;
- user identifiers used for interaction auditing are hashed or anonymized;
- interaction audit retention is bounded;
- privileged Discord access is limited to Message Content;
- privileged Presence and Server Members access are not required.
No online system can guarantee absolute security, but reasonable measures are used to reduce unnecessary access, retention, and exposure.
11. Your Choices and Data Deletion
Users may choose not to interact with Pyth Scan.
Server administrators can restrict or disable conversational functionality using Pyth Scan's /setup controls and Discord's native permission system.
Users may request deletion of their Pyth Scan activity data by contacting:
Requests should include enough information for us to identify the relevant Pyth Scan activity. We may need to verify the request before processing deletion.
Users may also remove or modify information they intentionally created through features such as alerts and watchlists where supported.
12. Children's Privacy
Pyth Scan is not intended to independently collect information from children outside the normal operation of Discord. Users must comply with Discord's applicable age requirements and terms.
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as Pyth Scan's functionality, service providers, or data practices change.
Material changes will be published with a revised Last Updated date.
